It wasn’t that long ago that Friday nights automatically meant an Orange Cassidy title defense. Or at least it felt that way, and we’re getting some of that spirit back tonight on this week’s edition of AEW Rampage. Tonight’s challenger is Lee Moriarty, who is a fine wrestler, sure. But do we think he’s going to dethrone the Freshly Squeezed one tonight? No, no we do not. But hey, bigger upsets have happened, and there’s always the possibility of hijinks as well. Let’s see how Moriarty fares and what else is in store on this particular Rampage. AEW Rampage results in 30 seconds: Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli def. Kip Sabian, The Butcher and The Blade by pinfall Darby Allin says he’s good to his word and won’t go after the TNT Championship since Samoa Joe won it again, and Sting suggests the two of them will go out in a blaze of glory Ricky Starks says he doesn’t just want to beat Chris Jericho again, he wants to embarrass him, but he’s starting with members of the JAS first The Impractical Jokers still have Jericho’s bat, but Chris ends the JAS to beat them up, and one of them gets powerbombed onto the other and through a table Dustin Rhodes warns Swerve Strickland that belittling the Rhodes name is across the line, and says he’s coming for Swerve’s blood and soul … but he gets attacked by the Mogul Affiliates first, and Swerve says next week he can get it Ruby Soho def. Marina Shafir by pinfall, then gets confronted by Saraya and Toni Storm afterward; Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter also pop out of the crowd and a brawl erupts Mark Briscoe says he feels good but is interrupted by Smart Mark Sterling and ends up renewing acquaintances with Josh Woods “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry def. Ryan Nemeth by pinfall, but Brian Cage comes to the ramp to make a throat slashing gesture Ortiz says he will always stand with Eddie Kingston, but he’s willing to stand against him to prove it Hangman Adam Page has his interview interrupted by Sabian Orange Cassidy def. Lee Moriarty by pinfall to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Championship Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal attack Cassidy and Danhausen with the Golden Globe trophy, and even Best Friends can’t turn the tide … but The Acclaimed can, wielding chairs |
